D. Cornell
Claire Diane Cornell provides grants, proposal development and
program management consulting to clients like George Mason University
(Fairfax, VA), the Educational Testing Service (Princeton, NJ),
Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA), and various other colleges,
universities, hospitals, and non-profits. As the Director of the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s Grants Division, Ms. Cornell
has secured more than $47.9 million in grant awards for Puerto
Rico’s government offices, colleges, universities, nonprofits
and private companies.
Before coming to Washington, Ms. Cornell created and
managed large grants operations at the Universities of
South Carolina and Iowa. While employed by South Carolina,
she developed science, mathematics, and engineering grants
for research and teaching. While at the University of
Iowa, she developed grants for the Graduate College’s
100+ doctoral programs, for 42 Departments in the College
of Liberal Arts, and all facets of the UI College of
Business.
Ms. Cornell has published articles on grants development
and she has produced presentations for international
business conference proceedings. She is a frequent speaker
at national meetings of associations and organizations
(e.g., the Council of Graduate Schools) and she develops
and conducts grants training for academic institutions,
non-profits, government agencies, and community-based
organizations. Ms. Cornell has a Bachelor’s Degree
in English Literature from Queens College of the City
University of New York.
