Conroy
Managing Director
Mr. Jeff Conroy has over 20 years of experience in biotechnology leadership, commercialization and business development. For the past 8 years, Mr. Conroy has been in business strategy consulting and transaction advisory services, including in-licensing and partnering engagements for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients. Mr. Conroy has served as the CEO of Innovative Biologics, a small molecule anti-infective preclinical drug development company; CEO of CryoBioPhysica, an ion exchange chromatography technology company, and CEO of Cell Mechanics, a cartilage genomics product development company. In these early-stage leadership roles, Mr. Conroy has raised financing, managed preclinical product development, implemented operational plans, expanded intellectual property portfolios, and completed licensing transactions to advance business imperatives.
Prior to launching Adjuvant, Mr. Conroy held positions in division, business unit and sales and marketing leadership with Thermo BioAnalysis, a division of Thermo Electron (NYSE:TMO). As the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Thermo BioAnalysis, Mr. Conroy led global sales and marketing for an analytical instrumentation group focused on drug discovery imaging systems. As the General Manager of TBA’s Plastics Division, Mr. Conroy led a process reengineering strategy and created a technology evaluation and licensing process resulting in 18 acquired products, increasing the division’s return on sales to 47%.
Prior to Thermo, Mr. Conroy held sales & marketing and business development positions at Transgenic Sciences Corporation and Abbott Laboratories. Mr. Conroy is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, an adjunct lecturer at Georgetown University Medical School, and he serves on the Boards of Innovative Biologics, Inc. and CryoBioPhysica, Inc. Mr. Conroy holds a BS in Finance from Providence College.

Albine Martin, PhD
Managing Director
Dr. Albine Martin brings over 20 years of industry experience in deal structuring and alliance management for early stage and mature assets. During her tenure as Vice President Strategic Alliances and Licensing at Compugen Inc, a therapeutic/diagnostic discovery company she led a number of early stage partnerships within the diagnostic, biotherapeutic and platform technology arena.
Dr. Martin served as the first senior employee during the start-up of Digene Diagnostics, Inc. and led the organization towards building its first revenue base and commercial operations. In 1989, Dr. Martin joined Life Technologies/Invitrogen, Inc and held a number of positions during her 10-year tenure. She led the commercialization of the first DNA diagnostic test for HPV. As Business Manager, Asia Pacific she managed joint venture and distribution partnerships in Asia to support a 300% growth in the region. In addition, as Director Cell/Gene Therapy she worked closely with CBER/ FDA to establish the first regulatory guidance and directives for ancillary products utilized for in vivo therapies. During her tenure as Senior Business Director, she launched over 15 new products and realized 120% growth in the area of drug discovery, gene expression and small instrumentation. Dr Martin also serves as a key Healthcare advisor and Board member for the Healthcare sector at The New Vantage Group, Active Angels Inc. She has syndicated with local firms to raise funding for early stage companies. She further serves as a Board Member for the Maryland High Technology Innovation Center.
She holds a BS in Chemistry from Trinity College and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland and completed a Staff Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. She is a graduate of the Program of Leadership and Strategy in Pharmaceuticals and Biotech at the Harvard Business School.

Ravi Kiron, PhD, MBA
Managing Director
Dr. Kiron has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry and is well versed in all aspects of drug discovery, delivery, pre-clinical and early clinical drug development, bioinformatics and database management investment due-diligence, and alliance management.
Prior to joining Adjuvant Global Advisors, Dr. Kiron was the Chief Operating Officer at LifeTech Innovations, LLC, a Business Development and Strategic Advisory consulting firm. Before LTI, he was the Executive Director for New Technology Assessment and Planning at Johnson & Johnson / ALZA Corporation. Responsibilities included: drug delivery technology & research strategy and planning, in- and out- licensing, M&A and intellectual property management. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, he spent 13 years with Pfizer Global R&D, culminating with the position of Global Head, Strategic Analysis & Knowledge Management, in the Strategic Alliances Department. While at Pfizer, he was a primary architect or key team member on many US and non-US based partnerships and deal transactions, and a member of the acquisition/integration team for Pfizer's purchase of Warner-Lambert and Pharmacia Corporation, and performed due diligence on a number of biotech M&A opportunities. Dr. Kiron obtained experience in exploratory drug development as the project champion at Pfizer that led to the IND filing of Tarceva®, now in widespread use for the treatment of multiple malignancies. He also led drug discovery research teams in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, working on hypertension, congestive heart failure and ischemia-reperfusion injuries.
Prior to his tenure at Pfizer, Dr. Kiron was a biochemistry and medicine faculty member at Cornell University Medical Center in New York. He holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Microbiology from Bombay University, India. He also earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India and an MBA from Rensselaer in Hartford, Connecticut.

Edmund "Morrie" Ruffin, MA
Managing Director
Mr. Morrie Ruffin has 17 years of experience in the Biotech and Healthcare industries. Prior to joining Adjuvant Global Advisors, he was the Chief Executive Officer of LifeTech Innovations, LLC a Business Development and Strategic Advisory consulting firm based in Bethesda, MD. Prior to his position at LTI, Mr. Ruffin was Executive Vice President of Capital Formation and Business Development at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the largest trade organization representing the biotech and drug development industries. Joining BIO in 1994 as one of its original employees, Mr. Ruffin was responsible for building the organization’s global business development and investor outreach programs focused on helping companies raise capital and identify strategic partnering and licensing opportunities. This BIO business development franchise is the largest in the world, with operations in the US, Europe, and Japan.
In addition to his business development work at BIO, Mr. Ruffin was responsible for leading the industry’s capital formation advocacy efforts with a particular focus on economic incentives to promote investment in early stage biotech and med-tech businesses. Mr. Ruffin was a founder and board member of the Interoperable Informatics Infrastructure Consortium (I3C), an international standards setting body for the bioinformatics industry.
Prior to joining BIO, Mr. Ruffin worked for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter for five years as his senior legislative assistant. Prior to that, he spent approximately five years working in varying capacities, including policy analyst, at Systems Planning Corporation International and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Mr. Ruffin received his MA in International Studies & Economics from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and his BA from the University of Virginia.
